October 2007 – World-leading design and communications agency, Imagination, was looking for an awe-inspiring, innovative interactive experience that would draw consumers to a tradeshow display they designed for Shell, a worldwide group of oil, gas and petrochemical companies. They decided to integrate several types of interactive technologies into their booth design, including GestureTek’s new ultra-modern AirPoint system.
The AirPoint system is GestureTek’s latest innovation in point & control technology. It gives users unencumbered computer control by creating an invisible tracking area above the unit, where one’s finger becomes the ‘pointer’ or the ‘mouse’.
While AirPoint is powerful enough for any large-scale public installation, its compact size and portability make it perfect for use in conference rooms, presentation centres or tradeshows.
Imagination was particularly attracted to AirPoint’s slim, sleek design, which fit perfectly with the minimalist look and feel that Imagination was striving for with its exhibits. After working with GestureTek on several other projects they saw this as a prime opportunity to bring something truly cutting-edge to the tradeshow market.
The system made its debut at the Airshow in Dubai, using customized content. Attendees were able to interact with several dynamic media presentations, simply by waving their finger. The Airtouch was also utilized at the World Energy Congress in Rome to great success.
“Having something innovative that would distinguish us from other booths was a key factor in choosing to go with Gesturetek” said Peter Brooks, Head of Production Technology. “The Airpoint gave us that much needed ‘wow-factor’ at the Airshow”
