Ford Motor Company Unveils its New Concept Car Using GestureTek's "Futuristic " HoloTrack Frame Technology 01-05-2003 - Detroit, MI - Visitors to the Ford Motor Company exhibit at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show were not only treated to a taste of the future of cars but also the future of interactive large screen displays. The interactive display for Ford's new Model "U" Concept Car was like a scene right out of Steven Spielberg's futuristic blockbuster film "Minority Report", where in a distant future, large transparent display screens are manipulated by simply pointing from a distance. For over a year, GestureTek Inc. has been introducing the display and multimedia markets to its revolutionary GestTrack™ technology, which without having to wear, hold, or touch anything, the user is able to control all aspects of dynamic onscreen content with simple hand gestures. "GestureTek is a full service technology production and application creation company, which often works in coordination with other communication companies to deliver state of the art customer experiences," states GestureTek President, Vincent John Vincent. The Imagination Group, Europe's largest independent design and communications company, with a long-standing association with the Ford Motor Company, recognized GestTrack as a unique and dynamic way to display interactive content. With the use of GestureTek's GestTrack™ gesture-recognition tracking system, and the content and display designed by Imagination, Ford was able to display information about their concept cars in a way that is as ultramodern as the cars themselves. This helped to contribute to the Ford Motor Company being honored with an Eyes on Design Award for 'Most Significant Exhibit Design' at the N.A. International Auto Show 2003 in Detroit. GestTrack™ is a stereo/dual camera control technology utilizing a complete depth map of the real world. This enables the computer to see in 3D space and deduce the distance and composition of the moving objects in front of the cameras or its "eyes". GestTrack™ systems can be calibrated to allow the user to be any distance from the screen - inches or even several feet away. There are multiple configurations of the GestTrack technology depending on location and application. GestTrack has been installed in Trade Shows, Museums, Retail Locations, Video Control Rooms, etc. Because GestTrack™ uses cameras for "eyes" it can be placed in a window display or behind protective glass, eliminating wear and tear on the screen, and also deters vandalism, and the spread of germs from hundreds of different fingers. GestTrack™ can turn any retail window into a 24-hour large screen interactive display that is accessible from the street. Besides numerous public forum installations, GestTrack's stereo analysis and control technology is applicable for, corporate presentations, trade shows, education, security, entertainment, industrial training, robotics, sports, fitness and rehabilitation, desktop PCs, and more.
