GestureTek’s Gesture-Control Interactive Display Technology Creates Engaging Immersive Experiences For Visitors Throughout Vancouver During Olympic Month

Vancouver, BRITISH COLUMBIA, FEB 19, 2010 – GestureTek’s video gesture control software for interactive displays, games and entertainment is being used in several exhibits in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada during the Olympics. Ontario House and Netgenetix are just a few of the organizations who have chosen GestureTek’s interactive solutions. The Cube™, GestureTek’s turnkey portable, plug and play interactive projection display system for exhibits and trade shows brings the engaging dynamic of motion-responsive interaction to Ontario House. For 17 days, the Cube is projecting custom Ontario-branded interactive multi-media games and animation effects onto Ontario House’s floor for the enjoyment of passers-by. GestureTek’s GroundFX® visual display system can be found at the Vancouver Art Gallery in an engaging gesture-controlled interactive floor. Custom multi-media effects imitate a salmon-filled British Columbia river. The installation is part of an immersive video gallery designed to showcase the forestry and fisheries industries and promote environmental sustainability. Multi-media design firm Netgenetix turned to GestureTek to create three Illuminate® interactive surface computing display systems as part of the “Living Rainforest” exhibit. Visitors can touch any one of the “hotspots” on the display screen to access entertaining and informative multi-media content on the initiatives of notable environmental companies. Several interactive flight simulation game systems that are compatible with GestureTek’s 3D gesture control technology have also been installed around the city, including at the 2010 Commerce Center and the Vancouver Trade & Convention Centre. These interactive displays were originally developed for the Beijing Summer Olympics by California-based multi-media specialists Xpletive, using GestureTek’s 3D depth sensing software. In total, over 15 different interactive gesture-controlled displays from GestureTek can be found in and around Vancouver, providing visitors with engaging, dynamic, gesture-driven entertainment and information.
