Aquafresh Extreme Clean Toothpaste Launches Motion-Controlled Advertising and Promotional Campaign Using GestureTek’s ScreenFX Interactive Display Technology.

July 2008 – emg3, a turnkey event marketing agency based out of Portland, Maine, had recently begun working on a project for Aquafresh, a product of GlaxoSmithKline. The goal was to deploy a mobile trailer that would travel cross-country, promoting the Aquafresh Extreme Clean brand and giving lucky individuals the chance to win a host of great prizes.  emg3 wanted an activity that was incredibly awe-inspiring to help them entice consumers to try Aquafresh Extreme Clean at their brushing stations. They found exactly what they needed with GestureTek’s ScreenFX visual display system for motion-activated advertising.

ScreenFX utilizes a multi-patented, camera-based system that actually looks out at the surrounding area and reacts directly to movement.  As people pass by the dynamic and engaging ScreenFX display, they instantly notice their movement magically creating stunning changes to the display’s graphical content. Simple body movement evokes powerful image changes in an array of stunning visual effects that can be overlaid upon any advertising or branded message

To introduce people to the Aquafresh Extreme Clean toothpaste, GestureTek worked with emg3 to create an interactive tooth polishing game.  Viewers would stand in front of a huge 50” plasma screen and see a digitally rendered set of teeth that were in need of cleaning. With the brushing motion of a toothbrush they could start the toothpaste’s “micro-polishing foaming action” to make the teeth sparkling white.  After brushing was complete, participants were given a closing brand message and either a “Thanks for Playing” or “You Win!” message.

“The interactive, gesture-controlled tooth polishing game was an excellent addition to our mobile trailer” said Todd Friberg, VP/Creative Director and principal at emg3. “GestureTek took something as seemingly mundane as brushing your teeth and presented in a refreshing and engaging way.  GestureTek’s interactive motion control technology helped to grab potential consumers’ attention and delivered dynamic messaging we knew they would remember.”
