Wall FX Delights Kids at Childs’ Play Activity Center

Childs’ Play is Las Vegas’ newest children’s activity center.  It boasts more than 500 members who pay a monthly fee to enjoy informal play time, as well as participate in formal, age-appropriate activities and more than 30 different classes in everything from music and drama to gymnastics and karate.  There’s even a hair salon and a photo studio. The center has activities for kids from 9 months right up to 10 years old.

GestureTek’s WallFX interactive visual display system was used to create a 6 x 7-foot interactive special effects wall in the play center. More than 25 interactive games and special effects applications, designed to engage and entertain kids, come included with the WallFX program. Kids play with the wall and interact with it using hand and body motions.  When they move, the wall responds by making changes to the graphics displayed.

A camera and projector affixed to the ceiling, along with GestureTek’s patented gesture recognition software, track body movement and allow for real-time interaction between a child and the display.

“Kids love WallFX because they can see immediately how their actions impact the display.  With WallFX, children are the masters of their environment,” says Dean LaCoe, Business Development Representative for GestureTek.

According to Jeremy Childs, owner of Childs’ Play, the WallFX interactive wall is cool and cutting-edge, adding to the overall visual appeal of the facility and providing a unique look and feel for the center that nobody else can match.

“WallFX also helps me retain customers,” says Childs.  “Because my business is based on recurring billing, it’s important for me to retain my existing customers by continually giving them things that are new and innovative.  WallFX has helped me do that.”
