GestureTek’s Gesture Recognition Technology Enhances Interactive Storefronts from Inwindow Outdoor

January, 2009 -- Inwindow Outdoor pioneered advertising through partnerships with commercial landlords and mall owners that transform vacant storefront into colorful, energetic and attention-grabbing advertising displays.

For a number of years, Inwindow has utilized GestureTek’s gesture control technology through vendors to make the advertisers’ messages interactive within the storefront windows.  The company was so impressed with GestureTek’s technology that they purchased their very own GestureTek systems last November.

“In the Out-Of-Home advertising world, everything from billboards, to taxi signs to supermarket displays are going digital,” says Steve Birnhak, CEO of Inwindow Outdoor. “People pay far more attention to ads that are moving.  And it makes the advertising experience that much more memorable for people when they can actually control content by moving their hands and body.  They’ll spend more time with the ad, and that translates into better advertising recall.”

Recent studies support Birnhak’s view.  Information Resource Inc. found that interactive advertising had a 41.3% unaided recall rate.  When surveyed, 50% of consumers also remembered seeing the advertisement on a previous visit.

Inwindow clients who are currently, or will soon be, advertising on Inwindow interactive storefronts embedded with GestureTek’s video gesture control technology are among some of the most recognized names in the world, including Scion, Sony, HBO, iShares, New Line Cinema and the Travel Channel.

“iShares is an impressive example of what Inwindow has done with GestureTek’s gesture recognition system to create a fully interactive storefront window.  The ad is a real head-turner, featuring an incredible 3D rendering of an office space that disperses layers of fog as people walk by,” says Birnhak.

Birnhak says iShares was thrilled with the result.  “iShares firmly believes that cutting-edge technology on ‘in-your-face’ surfaces such as huge street-level windows, captures eyeballs and drives sales over the long-term.  And countless other organizations in many sectors, such as consumer products, automotive, banking and apparel, are seeing this as well.”
