GestureTek’s GroundFX Interactive Display Technology Creates Powerful Advertising Experiences for Space 3D’s Customers

July 2008 – Space3D Solutions SA (www.space3dsolutions.ch) is a Switzerland-based company that works directly with clients and agencies to create unique advertising experiences.  Space3D has used GestureTek’s GestureFX family of interactive visual communication products in a variety of projects, sometimes providing a turnkey GestureFX solution and sometimes relying on GestureTek for content development and installation support.

GestureFX is a stunning interactive visual display system for show-stopping interactive advertising and entertainment in public spaces. As one of the world’s most advanced gesture recognition solutions for motion-controlled interactive displays, signs and surfaces, the GestureFX system uses sophisticated camera technology, along with GestureTek’s patented body tracking software, to track peoples’ body movements and responds by projecting dynamic interactive multimedia content, special effects, interactive advertising or games onto the display surface.  Any surface of any size can be transformed into an interactive display - floors (GroundFX), walls (WallFX), screens (ScreenFX) and even tables (TableFX).

Space3D has several high-profile Swiss clients who have seen first-hand the marketing and business benefits of GestureTek’s technology, including telecommunication leader Swisscom, magazine publisher Ringier, and retail chain Migros.

Swisscom retained Space3D to execute a promotion for the 2008 Euro Cup.   The company installed seven of GestureTek’s GroundFX interactive floors in Swisscom stores around Switzerland and Europe.  The displays presented a variety of dynamic interactive advertising and promotional content which store patrons could manipulate and control by stepping on the display.  Visual material included football images, the Swisscom logo and images of Nokia phones.

For Ringier, Space3D mounted portable GroundFX units on trusses for a large two-day event to celebrate Ringier’s 175 years of success in the magazine publishing industry.  Content reflected the four French language magazines that Ringier distributes in Switzerland.  Partygoers were invited to entertain themselves by interactive with the GroundFX display.

Space3D also worked with Migros, the largest retail chain in Switzerland.  The store wanted to do a one week promotion for one of their cleaning products.  They mounted a projector on a large portable stand to create a portable GroundFX unit.  Using a special wide-angle lens they projected the logo of the cleaning product and integrated a number of GestureTek’s head-turning special effects that dazzled customers as they walked over the images and captured their attention.

“The GestureFX products are fantastic and the response from Swiss consumers has been one of complete exuberance,” said Christian Skinnarland, Technical Manager Space3D.  “It’s their versatility that’s so great.  Motion-based interactivity adds energy and intrigue to any interactive display in venue, from a nightclub to a grocery store to a public library.  Consumers can help but be drawn in by the interactive experience.”
