Interactive Wall Art Using GestureTek Technology Leaves W Hotel Visitors Spellbound

May 2008 – W Hotels is luxury hotel brand that has over 22 properties around the world.  Each property offers a unique mix of innovative design, with influences from contemporary fashion, music and art.  W is quickly becoming the fastest growing luxury hotel brand in the world and its increasing profile demands that each new hotel offers something truly spectacular to dazzle patrons. W Hotel’s Atlanta Midtown location wanted to add some pizzazz to its already beautiful lobby.  Management wanted technology that would capture the clientele’s attention as well as serve as an interactive work of art.

They decided to install one of GestureTek’s spectacular WallFX systems.  WallFX is a revolution in public space advertising and entertainment.  This system projects dynamic visual content onto virtually any wall and creates a full body interactive experience.  Users can literally use body motions to interact with dazzling digital content.

For the W Hotel, GestureTek installed 4 ceiling mounted cameras projected and 12 large screens covering the entire wall in the hotel’s lobby.  Rotating dynamic multimedia images are projected on the screens for the enjoyment of the hotel’s clientele.  In one image series, glowing blue roads appear to be floating in space. When guests approach the screen and wave their hands, a glowing outline of their body appears, melting away the previous image in a dazzling visual effect.

WallFX looks amazing in any lobby. Not only is it dynamic and visually appealing, it also adds to design appeal. It’s a piece of technology art that can’t help but impress people.
