After each race, jockeys are shown riding into the winners circle and posing for photos in front of a wreath of flowers.
The first-of-it's kind installation at The Museum of the Horse in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico serves as a prototype for future horse racing games which will soon appear at racetracks around the world.

The user's live video image is placed onscreen on a virtual horse, racing at a digital version of Hollywood Park racetrack. Once participants mount the saddles of the physical horse simulator, a video camera captures their image and superimposes them into the animated scene. Their live video image is placed astride an animated, meticulously modeled thoroughbred horse. | |

The race begins when the gates fly open and the riders, with reins in their hands, start to propel their horses around the track. As the participant rides the simulator, they experience what a jockey goes through during a race, "pumping" their horse to make it go faster. Our video tracking techniques enable realistic and responsive control over the speed of each horse in the race. |
