MANDALA® GX VIDEO GESTURE CONTROL (VGC) SYSTEM CONCEPT

Imagine a world where you are in control of the images and sounds that surround you. GestureTek's Mandala® GX Video Gesture Control (VGC) system allows for suspension of disbelief by placing participants into computer generated landscapes, permitting interaction with icons and symbols within that world.

GestureTek has successfully produced Mandala® GX VGC technology since 1986, enabling participants to be placed within a variety of entertaining and engaging computer generated realities. The Mandala® GestureXtreme System combines the video image of the participant with an interactive virtual world where the state-of-the-art tracking system within the software reads the position of the body at all times, allowing for real-time movement and interaction with background and foreground graphics.

Mandala® GestureXtreme (GX) VGC technology translates into a full-body unencumbered experience. GestureTek employs this technology to create successful interactive exhibits worldwide, without the need for cumbersome head-mounted displays (HMD's) or data gloves. GestureTek's patented technology stands alone on the cutting edge of VR entertainment and education.

  • No hygiene concerns or diligence in cleaning parts which come into constant contact with large numbers of people
  • System is designed for audience participation, presents peripheral video monitors to encourage interest
  • Learning curve for the interface is less than 40 seconds for audience members
  • No constant supervision by an attendant required
  • Operation is extremely simple requiring only basic technical knowledge. All commands executed in Windows '95, the majority are 'point and click'.
patent information

In July, 1996 GestureTek was awarded comprehensive patent #5-534917 by the US Patent Office for "video-based interactive gesture control of computer processes". This covers all applications where a user appears on-screen and interacts with computer objects or icons
