Mexico's Chihuahua Museum Uses Cube Portable Interactive Floors and Illuminate Multi-Touch Tables to Educate and Entertain Kids

GestureTek and Grupo Guiza (GestureTek's strategic dealer in Mexico) teamed up to provide fun kids-oriented interactive technology to the Chihuahua Museum. GestureTek supplied Cube turnkey plug and play interactive floors, as well as Illuminate multi-touch tables. Grupo Guiza created custom content that uses GestureTek's interactive ‘ice cracking’ effect, combined with interactive images and information about prehistoric creatures that lived in the time of the Ice Age. The display is the centerpiece of the museum's "Ice Age" exhibit.

The Chihuahua Museum wanted to provide its visitors with the best possible multi touch interactive experience, delivered from a proven, experienced provider. They settled on GestureTek and Grupo Guiza after reviewing several museum systems in other locations and deciding that an Illuminate multi-touch system and the Cube could best meet their interactive needs.

Multi-touch systems from GestureTek can be found in many museums and science centers around the world, because they are a unique and engaging vehicle to present educational and informative interactive multi-touch content. Kids love it because it's fun and interesting. Parents love it because it's fun, safe and hygienic. Multi-touch content can be controlled with either touch or point gestures close to the screen. Museums love it because the technology is durable and holds up well even in constant use. As well, museums can find it safer and less risky to showcase priceless artifacts to children in the virtual world, rather than the real world. Multi-touch tables also serve as a stimulating, attention-grabbing vehicle to present complex principles and phenomenon to both children and adults. Turnkey Illuminate multi-touch tables come with a 55" screen. 30" and 40" tubs are also available.

The Cube is also popular with museums and science centers because of its portability and ease of use. It's compact, cost effective and needs no technician to install. The Cube can be placed anywhere, creating an instant interactive projection on the floor. Visitors can interact with the content by stepping on the projection or waving their arms above it.

All technologies come with pre-installed content or can be customized with unique content. Just some examples of applications that may come included with GestureTek technologies include a Koi Pond water effect, a library of interactive children's games, and a page turning application.

"Traffic to our display was definitely stronger due to the level of interactivity offered by the system, which enabled people to stay more involved and learn at the same time," said Frederico Landeros, President of Grupo Guiza.
