Toronto Office Complex Uses GestureTek Multi-Touch Display in Sales Presentation Center

Commerce Court is a large, mixed-use, multi-building complex in the financial hub of downtown Toronto, Canada – managed by GWL Realty Advisors Inc. (GWLRA) and owned by British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (bcIMC).

As part of a larger leasing and upgrading initiative to reinforce Commerce Court’s position as one of the most technically and operationally advanced buildings in Toronto, GWLRA hired acclaimed graphic designer Kevin Hoch of Pylon Design (pylon.ca) to help with their initiative which included a new Presentation Centre at Commerce Court. Along with promoting Commerce Court, this Presentation Centre also included promotion of bcIMC’s new office at 18 York Street in Toronto, Canada.

Pylon contracted ET Group (etgroup.ca) handled audio-visual integration. GestureTek’s Illuminate multi-touch display system provides the surface computing solution to allow gesture-based interactivity with two multi-media presentations.

Pylon’s team designed an open concept sales floor, complete with a floor-to-ceiling glass-enclosed cube that functions as the boardroom and presentation center.  The all-glass space can be moved from one floor to the next as floors fill up with tenants. They decided to feature the multi-touch display and integrated it as part of the glass boardroom walls. At 8 x 5 feet, the display makes a spectacular impact.

GestureTek’s vertical multi-touch display is used by sales reps to interact with menu-based multi-media content with simple hand and point gestures. The display features custom content designed by Pylon that integrates GWLRA’s presentation and reflects both buildings’ brand positioning .

According to Pylon, GestureTek’s interactive display met the requirements for a sustainable and reusable technology that could be moved from place to place, with no wasted technology and no need to build new panels. The gesture control display systems offers a differentiator in the marketplace, because they’re often perceived to be more engaging, entertaining and memorable than standard presentation systems.
