GestureTek Multi-Touch Technology and Atrae Creates a Head-Turning Interactive Multi-Touch Retail Window for Spanish Telecom Giant, Telefonica.

June 2008 – The Telefonica building in Madrid, Spain is located on one of the city’s most famous streets, the Grand Via or “great way” in English.  The skyscraper, built in 1929, was one of Madrid’s tallest buildings and is a famous fixture among the city’s beautiful architecture.

Telefonica already had a strong partnership with GestureTek’s mobile business unit, GestureTek Mobile.  The two companies are working together to bring gestural interfaces to the mobile and platform markets.  For their office building, Telefonica turned to ATRAE (www.atrae.es)  GestureTeks strategic partner in Spain, to create a custom retail window installation using GestureTek’s award-winning multi-touch technology.

GestureTek’s space-age Illuminate Multi-Touch solution can be configured for any display surface and designed in virtually any shape or size.   The system utilizes a gesture-controlled screen, a powerful computer with GestureTek’s patented video gesture control software, a projector, an IR camera and speakers.  The full inventory of GestureTek’s GestureFX special effects applications can also be included in GestureTek’s multi-touch systems.

For Telefonica ATRAE (www.atrae.es)  built a custom 2.6 by 1.95 meter high indoor display window made of glass.  Custom multi-touch content was also created to communicate Telefonica’s products and positioning in the telecom world. The Illuminate multi-touch window not only added an awe-inspiring design element to the building, but also provided practical information about the company to visitors in a fun and interactive way.
