Illuminate Surfaces and Multi-Touch Technologies

GestureTek’s Illuminate gesture-controlled displays, kiosks, multi-touch tables and other interactive surfaces deliver Minority Report style computing control. Illuminate tracking technology can support both ‘point to click’ and multi-touch interactivity. ‘Point to click’ interactivity allows one person to point or wave their finger in front of a surface in order to interact with multi-media content. Multi-touch interactivity allows one or several people, using one or both hands, to manipulate data in unique ways by touching, rotating and dragging their hand along the interactive surface.

The captivating Illuminate system uses patented camera-enabled hand tracking technology that projects a thin curtain of infrared light along a surface and uses a single camera to obtain tracking data. When a finger or hand is illuminated by the infrared light, the camera detects it and determines its position on the computing surface.

Technology is completely hidden from view with the Illuminate surface system, making it ideal for public spaces where equipment damage and abuse is a concern. Its high-tech design and functionality make it the perfect choice for leading-edge organizations looking to reinforce a sophisticated, high-end brand personality.

Cutting-edge multi-touch surface computing features only available from GestureTek:

  • Works on any surface of any size – vertical or horizontal; window or screen.
  • Reacts to touch or to ‘pointing’ immediately above the screen.
  • Features 70 eye-catching ‘GestureFX’ special effects for audio-visual and animation.
  • Hardware can deal with different ambient lighting conditions.
  • Cutting edge capabilities include page flipping, object recognition, and complex gesture recognition (ie circular hand motions).
  • Supports multitouch industry standard TUIO interface.
  • Less costly than other alternatives.
  • More durable and hygienic alternative than traditional touch-screen surfaces.
  • Cutting edge technology captures more ‘eyeballs’ than standard static or touch screen interactive displays.
  • Great for high-traffic areas where engaging multiple consumers simultaneously is critical.
  • Unique multi-touch display entices user interaction even if they would not otherwise be interested in the information being presented.
  • Paid advertising can also be presented on the table, creating revenue generation opportunities.
