GestureTek make Holt Renfrew's 2012 Christmas Window one you won't forget

Every Christmas, major department stores transform their window displays into miniature winter wonderlands. It's a North American holiday tradition and one we all love. This year GestureTek worked with Acid Integration to make Toronto based department store Holt Renfrew's Christmas window stand out from all the others.

Holt Renfrew's theme this season was 'Snowflakes', and from that concept a digital interactive display was created that allows users to interact with the snowflakes as they fall from the top of a 65" portrait oriented LCD. The interactive display, is equipped with an infra-red camera to track the user's movements and silhouette on the street front. There are three store front windows showcasing mannequins and clothes, alternating between the two LCD screens, which feature the interactive installations.

The Holt Renfrew window saw the two worlds of interactive technology and fashion amalgamated into a single creative unit.

The Holt Renfrew window uses GestureTek's ScreenFX technology. ScreenFX creates Interactive Screens that display dynamic interactive multi-media content on any LCD screen, plasma screen or glass storefront window. Using GestureTek's multi-patented, camera-based body tracking and gesture recognition technology, the system actually looks out at the surrounding area and reacts directly to the movement of people nearby. ScreenFX's can reflect a simple transition from one brand image to another or reflect complex multi-layered 3D multi-media animation with sound and video.
