GestureTek named “Cool Vendor” by Leading Analyst Firm

Vendors selected for the “Cool Vendor Report” are innovative, impactful and intriguing.

Virgin Mega-Store GroundFXSUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA, April 7, 2008 – GestureTek Inc. has been included in the "Cool Vendors" report by Gartner, Inc. (“Cool Vendors in Retail, 2008”, by Gale Daikoku, March 31, 2008).

GestureTek was listed in the Gartner Report, which pointed out that real-time interactive retail technologies are enabling customers to immerse themselves in a product or shopping experience, which could change the shopping and service environment to a socializing store experience.

GestureTek’s interactive motion-sensing technologies can be used by retailers, advertisers and digital signage providers to create interactive experiences within the store environment, and to transform surfaces such as floors, walls, cash counters and retail windows into in-store advertising, promotion and entertainment mediums.

Using advanced real-time computer vision control techniques, GestureTek’s patented gesture-recognition technology converts simple hand movements into direct mouse like control in virtually any environment through the use of video cameras and video projection technology.

GestureTek’s motion-activated immersive technologies can also capture real-time customer video images onscreen, enabling customers to watch themselves as they interact with projected advertisements, branded multimedia content or games on a multi-media display.

"GestureTek’s reputation in the retail and digital signage space has grown exponentially, thanks to new product innovations such as our Screen Xtreme immersive digital signage solution, awards such as the 2008 Digital Signage Interactive Technology Award and profile in news articles and industry research," said Vincent John Vincent, President and Co-Founder of GestureTek Inc.

GestureTek offers an array of products designed to let users control interactive content, access information, manipulate special effects or immerse themselves in an interactive 3D virtual world, simply by moving their hands or body.

Selected GestureTek technologies for retail digital signage and advertising include:

GestPoint®: Gesture-based control system, providing a touch-free interface to any menu-based multi-media presentation system, with no mouse or other device required.

Illuminate™ Multi-Touch Tables & Displays:  Futuristic computing surfaces to navigate traditional multi-media or dynamic content with multi-touch interactivity.

ScreenXtreme™: Immersive digital signage and advertising technology that projects a user’s image onscreen and lets them manipulate multi-media content with hand and body movement.

GestureXtreme®: A thrilling immersive virtual gaming experience where users see themselves onscreen, interacting with virtual characters and objects.

GestureFX®: An eye-catching visual display system that responds to body motion, projecting dynamic multi-media content onto floors, walls, tables, bars or counters.
