February 2008 – The Super Bowl is the most watched sporting event throughout the year in the U.S.  Aside from showcasing the championship for one of America’s favourite pastimes, it’s also a great opportunity for companies to showcase innovative forms of advertising, both on the television broadcast and on-site at the sporting venue.  Pepsi was looking for something really exciting for its prize giveaways at the University of Phoenix stadium, the site of this year’s Super Bowl.

Display With Design, Inc. partnered with Integrated Multimedia Solutions to develop a captivating promotional solution for Pepsi.  The companies contacted GestureTek, and utilized GestureTek’s HoloTrack Frame system for the project.  HoloTrack Frame gives users complete mouse control that works seamlessly with any custom designed program.  Users simply point inside a control frame to control interactive multi-media presentation content on any sized screen.

For the Super Bowl, Pepsi wanted a game that would essentially be a cleverly-designed prize give-away and more importantly a learning tool to reveal Pepsi Points and Pepsi Stuff.  Using the HoloTrack Frame’s gesture control capabilities, a Pepsi logo was projected onto a screen.  The cursor, which was controlled through users’ movements, appeared in the shape of a football.  As users moved the ‘football’ curser over the game they were exposed to different aspects of the Pepsi Stuff Promotional Campaign.

“People had a lot of fun with this.  People were already excited enough to be at the country’s most prestigious sporting event" said Brendan Cravitz, VP of IMS West.  "They were even more excited at the prospect of winning Pepsi Points to go online and select different Pepsi Stuff.  The cool factor of the HoloTrack Frame was definitely a huge selling point.  Everyone just wanted to see how it worked.”
