Iconic brand Sun Life Financial pays homage to its history while embracing the future with cutting-edge GestureFX interactive advertising display technology

Sun Life Financial, a Canadian-based financial services provider with operations around the globe, recently installed a GestureTek GroundFX system at a subway station in the heart of Toronto's financial district. The interactive gesture control visual display system was strategically designed to tell the Sun Life story in an engaging and entertaining way, while simultaneously showcasing Sun Life's "whimsical sun" trademark identifier - the cornerstone icon of the company's successful advertising campaign "Life's brighter under the sun".

A traditional video display highlights the history of the 140 year old company's evolution into an international full-service financial provider that manages the full spectrum of people's health, wealth and insurance needs. Right beside the traditional kiosk is a brand new interactive advertising display system that projects Sun Life-branded digital games onto an interactive floor that can be controlled by people's hand, foot and body motions. The gesture-responsive games educate and entertain passers-by, encouraging them to linger a little longer and engage with Sun Life. As people interact with the dynamic computer-generated applications on the floor, they are drawn into the Sun Life realm and are given a better understanding of who Sun Life really is, both as a company and as a brand.

"Sun Life's partnership with GestureTek has been wonderful," says Bill Ramsammy, Assistant Vice President, Corporate Brand and Marketing for Sun Life. "The overall reaction to the innovative display, from our CEO to our advisors in the field, has been very positive. The display respects Sun Life's traditions while positioning the company for the future as a warm and approachable institution."

A poll done by Sun Life found that audience reaction to the interactive display was overwhelmingly positive. Of the people surveyed, close to 80% showed interest in visiting Sun Life's website after interacting with the display. Reactions ranged from "It's a great way to tell everyday people about Sun Life" to "People of all ages like to play with the display" to "This is trendy, progressive, catchy and makes people look." Based on both qualitative and quantitative measures, the campaign can be considered a resounding success.
