October 2007 – SIR (Services Inspired Restaurants) Corp had previously worked with Intouch Media Group and GestureTek on an installation for their restaurant, Alice Fazooli’s in Toronto.  They wanted something equally fantastic for one of their Jack Astor’s locations in Richmond Hill.

GestureTek's ScreenXtreme system lets patrons at Jack Astor's Sports Bar play "virtual soccer." Hanging over the hostess station in the front lobby is a framed 67” diagonal projection screen displaying and interactive picture of a soccer pitch.  In a "Harry Potter"- like experience, patrons see themselves in the picture in real time, heading or knocking soccer balls.  It’s certainly something beyond the ordinary dining experience.

Also installed was a TableFX system, a custom designed table that fit in with the restaurant’s décor.  Using GestureTek’s patented camera tracking system and gesture-recognition software, GestureTek’s Table FX system allows patrons to control and manipulate interactive media content displayed on the glass table top.  With a wave of the hand, people can make a virtual bottle spin, adding a high-tech edge to a classic party game.

Peter Fowler, SIR President and CEO, has been cited in the media as embracing the opportunity to become one of the first users of this exciting technology.
